Patty is an industry veteran with 25 years of in-depth multi-category knowledge and experience across all facets of retail; specialty retail, catalog, ecommerce and wholesale manufacturing, with more than half of her career specifically focused on children’s products and services. Patty has a proven track record of establishing retail strategy and developing brands with work experience ranging from Fortune 500 companies to early stage start-ups. Patty began her career in Corporate Marketing at Liz Claiborne, Inc. and has held management positions at Coach, Gap, Gymboree, Esprit, and Hanna Andersson. She has first hand knowledge of fund raising, IPO and corporate acquisition and has been recognized for her leadership and ability to build and develop ”Best in Class” teams. Patty’s most recent position was EVP/GMM of American Pacific Enterprises. Patty and her husband Rich are the parents of two outstanding little boys, Jack and Ricky, and were one of the first DayOne members.
Nancy Held, RN, MS, IBCLC, Vice President of Clinical & Educational Services
Nancy earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from New York University, and found her passion in working with new and expectant parents as she gained experience as a labor and delivery, postpartum and well-baby nursery nurse. She later became certified as a childbirth educator and Board Certified Lactation Consultant and earned her master’s degree from the University of California, San Francisco, as a Perinatal Clinical Nurse Specialist. Nancy was instrumental in the establishment of the first hospital based lactation, education, and retail center in the country at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, where she worked for ten years. As part of DayOne from the start, Nancy has participated in the exciting growth of DayOne as the business has expanded to include 3 communities in Northern California and an online presence. She has spent the last 25 years supporting expectant and new families and is enthusiastic about helping them find their way as educated, confident new parents. Nancy and her husband live in Marin County and they have two wonderful adult children who are big fans of DayOne.
Cathy Denny, Director of Stores
Cathy has 13 years of both district management and management experience in the UK retail market. She has successfully managed a wide variety of retail environments, from specialty stores to a department store setting. As a district manager, she spearheaded a store expansion and refurbishment program, a brand revitalization project, and rebuilt management and store teams to effectively achieve their goals. In the US, and before joining DayOne, Cathy spent four years as the Northern California district manager for a marketing division of a Fortune 500 company. After the birth of her son she moved into a management role in the banking industry. Cathy’s son, Sam, loves to visit DayOne.
