Grace Koinange, Center Manager

Grace brings over 15 years of combined retail experience in specialty retail stores to her work at DayOne. Until recently, she worked with Oilily for over ten years. She held a corporate position at Oilily where she began her tenure and was fully committed and enjoyed working with mums and their tots. She recently joined DayOne as the Palo Alto Center Manager and has found a new passion and fulfillment in life. As a new mother of a 10-month-old son, Grace finds DayOne to be a peace of mind when faced with new parenting challenges. She finds in so many ways, DayOne partners with parents and their growing families. She enjoys the classes and the instructors who have a wealth of knowledge at her disposal. Grace lives in Palo Alto and finds joy in combining work with parenting, all under one roof.

Cherie Zappas Tannenbaum, NP, IBCLC Lactation Consultant, Instructor, Facilitator

Cherie attended El Camino College and UCLA, and first practiced as an RN in a family practice office.  She then returned to school and graduated from California State University, Los Angeles, as a Nurse Practitioner, maintaining her career focus on Family Practice. About ten years ago, Cherie sought out further education in order to help families maximize their potential for successful breastfeeding, and became certified as a Lactation Educator.  She is now honored to be an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). As participants in her individual Lactation Consultations, New Parent Groups, prenatal Breastfeeding classes, and All About Pumping workshops quickly learn, Cherie is an experienced, knowledgeable, warm and empathic professional who dedicates herself to helping DayOne patrons make some of their first important parenting decisions.  Cherie is the mother of four wonderful daughters, 2 of whom are twins, and lives in Menlo Park.

Christine Labriola Kenyon, IBCLC

Christine is a Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) with 6 years of in-patient and outpatient lactation experience.  Being certified since 2006, Christine works a DayOne providing one-on-one Lactation Consultations.  With her former institutional, as well as consulting background, she is able to effectively work with new mothers toward practical solutions on feeding issues.  As a new mother herself, Christine understands the overwhelming nature of becoming a new mother, and feels privileged to be a part of such an intimate time in women’s lives. Christine is best described as comforting, supportive, and encouraging in her advice.

Lisa Pineda FNP, MSN, Instructor

Lisa is a nurse practitioner at Palo Alto Medical Foundation. She received her master’s degree in perinatal nursing from the University of California, San Francisco, and her post-graduate Family Nurse Practitioner certificate from San Francisco State University. Prior to receiving her advanced degrees, Lisa worked as a labor and delivery nurse. She enjoys educating couples on the birth process and has a strong interest in maternal and women’s health. She is married with two young sons and enjoys “just being a mom.”  She teaches our Childbirth Preparation Class.

Ali Byrd, EMT-B, Instructor

Ali Byrd is a Certified Medical Technician and Anesthesia Technician and a certified American Heart Association CPR instructor. He has been teaching CPR classes through his own business for years and is the proud father of two. Ali teaches the highly recommended CPR classes at DayOne.

Arika Larson, Instructor

 Arika educates and empowers women and their families to manage their finances as a means for ensuring future financial well being, and at DayOne teaches the Wills, Trusts, and Life Insurance workshop. She holds life and health insurance licenses, her Series 7 and 63, and Long-Term Care insurance certification, and sits on the Agent Advisory Board to the State of California's California Partnership for Long-Term Care program. She is a member of the National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers (NAIFA) and has launched a company called Women Be Wise, which focuses on supporting women and their families in creating a secure financial future.   

Bill White, Instructor

Bill, a certified baby sign-language educator and father of two, is passionate about the field of sign language. Students walk out of his workshop introduced to over 30 signs—and they’re and eager to learn more. Bill teaches both the Introduction to Baby Sign Language and Signing Playgroups.

Dawn Campagnola, RYT, MFTI, Prenatal Yoga Instructor

Dawn has been a student of Yoga for the past 17 years. She received her first 200-hour teacher training in 2002 and has been teaching both group and private Yoga classes regularly since then. In addition to her 2002 Hatha yoga certification, in 2004 she received 200-hour training in Kundalini Yoga, as taught by Yogi Bhajan, and in 2007 obtained certification in the KRI-trained, 100-hour Conscious Pregnancy Prenatal Yoga. When she is not teaching Prenatal Yoga cCasses at DayOne, she is working toward   licensure as a marriage and family therapist in the state of California.

Kim Gustavson MA, Instructor

Specializing today in pre/post natal fitness, Kim has a master's degree in education from San Jose State, a California teaching credential from Fairleigh Dickinson University, a BA in psychology from Ithaca College, an AFAA Advanced Personal Trainer Certification, and she is an ACE-certified personal trainer/ AFAA aerobic Instructor. Kim teaches the Mom and Baby Fitness class at DayOne.

Reenie McCaffrey, CIMI, CMT,  Instructor

Reenie McCaffrey, C.I.M.I., C.M.T. graduated as a Certified Massage Therapist, Polarity and Reiki Practitioner.  In 1997, she became a Certified Infant Massage Instructor, then went on to certification in Infant Massage for special needs, HIV and drug and alcohol prenatally exposed infants.  Reenie later assisted in trainings for others to become Infant Massage Instructors. With a deep commitment to loving, healthy touch communication in infant massage, Reenie has worked with organizations and orphanages in Romania and Ukraine.  She also has worked with local organizations assisting at-risk infants and their families. Reenie teaches the Infant Massage workshops at Day One in Palo Alto.

Dr. Brian Quo, Instructor

Dr. Brian Quo is a native of Ohio, born and raised in Cincinnati. He completed his undergraduate studies from The Ohio State University majoring in Finance. He relocated to the Bay Area in 1994 receiving his dental degree from the University of California at San Francisco. He continued with his education completing a residency in pediatrics from the University of Illinois at Chicago, while earning his masters’ degree in Oral Sciences. He is Board Certified in Pediatric Dentistry.  Since his return to the Bay Area, he has taught at UCSF while working around the Bay Area. He has published in Pediatric Dentistry and The Journal of Dentistry and is on staff at The Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford in the Craniofacial Department. At DayOne, Dr Quo teaches our All About Your Baby’s Teeth workshop. Dr. Quo is married to Suzanne and they have two sons, Bennett and Brayden. He is an avid fan of all sports but especially loves baseball, football and soccer.

Carl Nickolas, Facilitator

Carl Nickolas has many years of experience singing, teaching, and playing gospel music, as well as playing in bands and jazz ensembles around the Bay Area.  He has been teaching Music Together classes for over 5 years in the Peninsula and is a popular instructor for DayOne Palo Alto’s Musical Play groups.

Teresa Morris, Instructor

Teresa Morris specializes in sleep consulting and providing guidance in solving behavioral challenges for parents of infants and young children. Teresa bases her services on over 25 years of experience in newborn and early childcare as well as her degree in psychology and ongoing education in early child development. It is Teresa's life goal to help parents implement changes that provide a consistent and calming environment that results in high functioning, healthy and happy children. She does this with sensitivity to cultural and family diversity while guiding her clients toward, what could be seen as life changing results. Teresa teaches the popular sleep workshops Establishing Good Sleep Habits and Sleep Solutions for the 4-12 month old at Day One Palo Alto and also privately consults with families located throughout the Bay Area.

Brittany Hofmeister, RD, Instructor

Brittany is a Registered Dietitian (RD) currently working at Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford.  She received her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and completed her internship at UC Davis Medical Center.  For the last 3 years, she has worked with children ages 0-21 in the hospital as well as a variety of outpatient clinics.  Brittany is passionate about providing the skills and knowledge parents need to successfully introduce solids and develop healthy eating habits for their new baby.  Brittany teaches DayOne’s popular Introducing Solids workshop and is currently working at Children’s Hospital in Oakland.

Jenny Ward, MFA, Licensed Yoga Instructor

Author and speaker Jenny Ward has worked with numerous corporations and nonprofits, including Visa, YouTube and Stanford as a workshop instructor. Her clients have enjoyed working with her on topics like single parenting, baby play, stress eradication and play-based parenting. She received her MFA from NYU, is a licensed Yoga Educator and Life Coach. Jenny is the author of "Who Said So", "101 Ways to Play" and "Shifting the Way We Parent". Currently, Jenny is a mom who resides in Palo Alto with her daughter.
