Babies at seven months begin to be frustrated when their parents and caregivers can’t understand their needs in the way they communicate. Research has shown teaching babies from 6-18 months how to communicate with basic signs actually improves their language skills and vocabulary at 18 months since the parent says the word every time they demonstrate the sign. More than one parent has been surprised when their baby signs the word that means something hurts or that they are ready to go to bed! DayOne utilizes the Joseph Garcia Sign With Your Baby method since it is based in the universally recognized American Sign Language.

Eighth Month

How do you help your baby learn to crawl? Floor time should be an essential part of every baby’s day, when they can experiment with rolling over, rocking on their hands and knees and just feeling their body on the floor. If your baby decides to skip crawling, consider purchasing a play tunnel. Babies soon learn the fun play of moving on their hands and knees to get to the other end of the tunnel where their parent’s smiling face is encouraging them on.

Ninth Month

Any age is a good time to begin reading to your baby since babies enjoy the one on one time with you and the funny sounds you make when you read to your baby. Nine month olds enjoy reading with a parent or caregiver and imitating sounds and interesting faces. Babies respond well to reading when they aren’t too tired or hungry and are placed in a position where they can see the face of who is reading as well as the book. Read More...

Siting with your baby on your lap at a 45-degree angle allows him to see your face and the pages you are pointing to. Babies enjoys books with lots of rhythm, rhyme and repetition, and having the words read slowly to them so they can listen carefully to each word. Choose books you enjoy because many babies soon ask for the same favorite book to be read to them over and over and over.
